Winding River Art Gallery and Fine Gifts

Mastodon Ridge, Exit 11, Stewiacke, NS

Winding River Art Gallery is holding its annual contest “Do You See What I See?” Our Gallery is dedicated to fostering local artists, so once again we are looking for artists and fine craftspeople to capture the spirit of Rick McKinnon’s photograph of “Maitland”. This may take any form using as many interpretations as the fertile minds of the artists. If it is a hanging piece, the maximum size would be 11 x 14 (including frame). Artwork must be received at the Gallery no later than Aug 10th at a cost of $5 per submission. Exhibit takes place from August 14th to August 28th. The winner will be voted on by the general public during the entire show, and on August 28th the ballots will be counted and the winner announced. The winner will receive a cash prize (half of what we receive from entrants).

For further information please contact the Gallery at 902-639-1646. or

Call to Artists: Paint the Deanery Project

Deanery for Janice-page-001

Deanery for Janice-page-002

Hi All my wonderfully creative fellow artists.
I am inviting you to the Deanery Project in Lower Ship Harbour on August 21, 2016 for the Launch of my 100 Wild Islands series in support of Nova Scotia Nature Trust.
I would also like to invite you to come plein aire painting that day in support of the Deanery Project.  Find out more about the project at
There is no registration fee and you will receive 50 percent of all works sold.  It is rain or shine but there are some wonderfully unique indoor spaces.  On Saturday there is a meet and greet and tour at 3pm and pizza cooked in the outdoor oven.
My show will be up all weekend but the official opening is at 2pm on Sunday.  Creating on Sunday will be from 10-3pm so I will hopefully get a few hours of painting in myself.  Photographers are invited to shoot on Saturday or anytime between now and then so your images will be ready for sale.

Thanks and blessings to all

Janice Stewart
