Classics for the Cabot Trail Festival Announces 2016 Line-up

The Festival kicks off on Sunday, August 28th at 8pm with a concert by American pianist Janice Weber. Other performances include:

September 1st : Sing the Trumpet Birthday Bash with Jennifer King (Piano), Paula Rockwell (Mezzo-Soprano) and Curtis Dietz (Trumpet)

September 4th : David Rogosin (Piano)

September 11th : Jon-Paul Decosse (Bass-Baritone) and Jennifer King (Piano)

September 25th : Janet Hammock and David Rogosin (Piano Duet)

All concerts start at 8pm except for the final September 25th Piano Duet which is a special 2pm Matinee.

“The backbone to our concert series this year is our 150-year-old Broadwood Drawing Room Grand Piano,” says Ian Green, Chair of the Arts by the Brook Society. “Constructed at Horseferry Road Workshop in Westminster London in 1866, the piano was delivered by horse and carriage to the home of James H. Crossman of Essex for the price of 173 pounds. I purchased the piano in 1990 for 10 pounds sterling at an auction in Penzance, Cornwall. After some significant repairs, it has resided with our family in Zenner (Cornwall), Belfast (Ireland), Ontario, Ingonish and Indian Brook. This year we celebrate its 150th birthday by inviting some of the North America’s best classical artists to Cape Breton Island.”
