Flowers Flowers Flowers: OPEN CITY at Argyle Fine Art
Saturday, May 7 |
Halifax, NS
It’s OPEN CITY time again, when downtown Halifax and Dartmouth celebrate the real beginning of Spring! Started by and organized by the I LOVE LOCAL gang, this all day Saturday event is certainly a harbinger for warmer days and just so happens to fall the day before Mother’s Day! So we were thinking….FLOWERS! In all their beautiful forms!
PAINT: We’re excited to announce that artist Briana Corr-Scott will be on hand from 1:30pm-3:30pm, with her newly opened exhibit of painted florals- that in our opinion are some of the most stunning paintings we’ve seen! Briana paints with oil and watercolour. She will even have a “wallpaper wall” installed for the exhibit. A must see!
METAL: Want to give some metal petals to mom this year for a change? Artist Al Hattie has just what you need. Al repurposes odds and sods and such into small sculptures. Affordable, inventive and always one-of-a-kind. Limited supply so come early!
REAL-LIFE FLOWERS: We’ll be joined by the Ikebana shop co-owner and artist Miyako Ballesteros as she creates a special space in the gallery with her ikebana arrangements within local ceramics provided by Julian Covey. Ikebana is the Japanese art of flower arrangement. It is more than simply putting flowers in a container. Its heart is the beauty resulting from color combinations, natural shapes, graceful lines, and the meaning latent in the total form of the arrangement.
We’ll also have some special draws for MOM’s (that includes cat moms, dog moms, grandmoms….) so make sure to drop by!
