LUCIE MICHEL WORKSHOP SEPT. 17-20 in Baddeck, NS

Lucie Michel is a wonderful artist and a delightful woman, living in Montreal, her work is vibrant and really stunning! She has been a teacher for many years and has a wide range of experience. For this workshop she intends to focus on the idea of simplifying the landscape, using large brushes and collage …. she wants to encourage us to go big! We will mostly work with acrylic paint and although she doesn’t actually use pastels herself, she has said that mixed media is definitely a good idea. The collage aspect would mostly come from us creating our own paper, using a few different techniques, one of which would include using the Gelli printing pad. Here is a link to her website.

Lunenburg Doc Fest Goes Online!

LUNENBURG DOC FEST

FESTIVAL UPDATE

Good news! The 7th Lunenburg Doc Fest will go ahead as scheduled this year, with an experience adapted for our current environment. In the spirit of the times we will watch remarkable films together, apart.

Lunenburg Doc Fest promises a meaningful and memorable edition in September 2020. Our fellow documentary enthusiasts will be able to view films from the comfort of home, with added treats to make the screening experience special. We will gather virtually to watch and discuss some of the year’s best new documentary films, thanks to a bit of technological magic added to the mix.

Our programmers are curating a new experience — a virtual screening room of films from around the world as well as Filmmaker Q&As, special guest spotlight conversations, even an “online lounge” where you can mingle with fellow film fans. As always, we will connect with filmmakers and get the inside stories that are only available to festival attendees. As much as possible Lunenburg Doc Fest will foster the interactive atmosphere that our filmmakers, special guests, and audiences so much enjoy.

The Lunenburg Doc Fest team will make the most of digital solutions to deliver an exciting, innovative festival event. To get you ready to participate fully, we will host pre-festival orientation sessions to the virtual viewing service we will use for film screenings, plus online “socials” just for fun. Watch for updates and invitations in future newsletters and social media posts!

Our online solution will be an entertaining way to enjoy Doc Fest securely from home, whether you’re dressed in your jammies or your ‘festival best’!

We are making these changes to do our part in helping our community and industry guests stay safe while still delivering on our mandate to educate, entertain, inspire and create a connection between filmmakers and film fans.

We are delighted to present the 7th festival thanks to the support of our community, industry stakeholders, and strong audience interest. If you, or your business, would like to participate in Lunenburg Doc Fest 2020, we would be happy to include you in our festive plans. We have a few interactive community ideas on our ‘call sheet’ but welcome your insights! Explore opportunities to support LDF here.

Please follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram or check out our website for the latest as Doc Fest’s online plans develop. More details are available here: https://bit.ly/2WZq8zD

All of us at Lunenburg Doc Fest wish you health and good spirits. Take care!
