Seascapes sketch and guide book workshop, set for July 27 and 28 has been postponed and will be re-offered August 25 and 26.

During this two day workshop you will create a ‘keeper’ sketchbook and idea file.

The topics of wave action, boats, shorelines and sunsets will be covered. Handouts, photo references, tips and techniques and book materials will be provided to help you make your book. You only need to bring your pencils, paints and brushes. There will be a field trip to the Fundy shore weather permitting.

Fundy Sunsets- Acrylic workshop – Wednesday August 24

    Watercolours  August 25–  Using 140 lb CP

 

 As late summer approaches, the colours of the land and sky get richer and deeper. In this class we will look at creating a sunset, blending and moving colour for the best effect. Bring a 9 x 12 or 8 x 10 canvas and Cadmium orange.

10-3:30   Bring a lunch       $60.00 per person.

 

Studio Rally   Also, pick up your map and get ready for Studio Rally 2016. Galleries across the province will be open July 30 and 31, 10-5 to greet visitors and art lovers. Hopefully some of you will drop in to Windsong and have a visit.

The 24th annual Studio Rally Weekend event takes place across Nova Scotia this coming weekend, July 30 & 31.
Participating artists around the province (see www.StudioRally.ca/guide) open their studios to all comers
for the opportunity to visit, view the art on hand, and find out more about their work.
Of course, our participating Galleries & Pit Stops will also be open so make you way to some of the artists in your area
— or get adventurous and plot a path to another region of the province to explore the art of that area.

Ron Hazell Drawing and Painting Workshop Aug 18 – 20
Learn to draw. Good drawing can be taught – and learned. At the end of this three day workshop you will be able to draw and paint what you see using newly acquired skills.
Watercolour demos will cover street scenes and placing people and even vehicles in the scene by understanding scale and proportion, as well as perspective.

Handouts will be provided. All mediums and levels welcome. A few spots are still available.

Workshop venue is St. Margaret’s of Scotland Church Hall, Robie St., Halifax.

Fee is $225.

Deadline: Thursday, July 28th 2016 at Midnight

The Centre for Art Tapes is delighted to announce a call for submissions for our upcoming members-only screening entitled RE:Member. The screening will consider what it means to be a member, what it means to be a part of a community, a fragment of a larger structure, an insider or outsider. How does your sense of belonging affect your practice?

The RE:Member screening will celebrate the wide diversity of new work(s) produced by our members over the past 5 years. RE:Member will be curated by the Centre for Art Tapes’ Programming Committee based on the quality, originality and thematic content of the submission(s).

The screening will take place on August 25th, 2016 at Paul O’Regan Hall in the Halifax Central Library. Works must be no longer then 15 minutes in length. As screening location can only support single channel video works or audio pieces, installations will not be accepted. Artists will be paid in accordance with the 2016 IMAA (Independent Media Art Alliance) fee schedule.

To apply you must be a CFAT member in good standing, non-members are free to purchase a membership prior to submitting their application.

To apply please submit:
  A clear and concise description of project.
  A link to a screener copy of the piece.
  An still or image to be used for promotional purposes.
  Artist CV
  Artist statement (maximum 250 words)

The Northumberland Arts Council is pleased to invite submissions of art for the 2nd annual Expressions of Soil, Soul and Society in August 2016.

This art show is part of

The Tatamagouche Festival of Soil, Soul and Society.

The show will continue daily to Tuesday, August 30.

The theme of the show is ‘Expressions of Soil, Soul and Society’.

Up to four pieces may be submitted.

All media welcome.

Please submit photos (jpeg)of your work with your submission.

Submissions need to be received by Friday, August 12.
