This weekend at the art centre

The Inverness County Centre for the Arts has a great weekend coming up with something for everyone.
Children’s Art Workshops:
Saturday April 23 for ages 12 and up  from 11 to 2pm
Sunday April 24 for ages 11 and under from 11 to 1pm
Each workshop is  $3 and includes supplies. It’s the perfect time to make a Mother’s Day card!

Shakespeare, anyone?
Come to the art centre and meet with Edmund MacLean  on Saturday April 23 from 2 -4 to  brainstorm an exciting workshop and performance for July. No theatre experience necessary – everyone is welcome.  It’s free and refreshments will be served.

Gaelic Stories (with English translations)
Sunday, April 24 2 – 4 pm
Come out for a good cup of tea and listen to local Gaelic speakers, young and old, share stories & songs.
Free admission.
Tea served/cash bar

Coming up :
An intensive silkscreen course with Brooklyn Stewart: Starting May 1, 8, 15 and 22:   4 Sunday sessions 11 – 3 pm . $100 non-members.  $80 for art centre members.

These awards are open to all artists.
The awards consist of cash and residencies valued at $ 20,940.00:

Key dates:
·         Entries accepted between 21 December, 2015 and 30 April, 2016

·         Finalist exhibition in Parrsboro, Nova Scotia: 20 August  – 10 September, 2016
·         Finalist exhibition in Montreal, Quebec: 23 September  – 7 October, 2016

‘Natural Elements’
This new work continues the artist’s exploration of the use of fluid inks on the slick surface of Yupo and the velvety surface of Mylar.The organic shapes and patterns that emerge in these non-objective paintings become suggestive of the elemental forms of the natural world.
