Register for Culture Days 2018!

The 9th annual Culture Days celebration is taking place on September 28-30, 2018, and you are invited to join this collaborative, Canada-wide movement to raise the awareness, accessibility, participation, and engagement of all Canadians in the artistic and cultural lives of their communities. Culture Days features free, hands-on, interactive activities that invite the public to participate “behind-the-scenes” – and to discover the world of artists, creators, historians, architects, curators, and designers at work in their neighbourhoods.

Anyone can participate by organizing a free and participatory arts/culture activity for the public during the Culture Days weekend. Your activity could be as simple as offering a tour of your studio, a demonstration of your work, or a hands-on craft activity. A Culture Days event doesn’t need to be something new or innovative – if you already offer a program that fits the criteria, simply schedule it on the Culture Days weekend and register it online for increased promotion!

Participating in Culture Days is a great chance for artists to engage the public in their arts practice and to connect with new audiences. Above all, it’s an opportunity to join the national arts and culture sector in affirming the importance of the arts to vibrant communities.

The Baccalieu Gallery welcomes submissions from artists for representation for the 2018 season (May to October). The Gallery’s theme is aquatic and all pieces have a direct or indirect connection to water. This category is broad and aside from classic nautical and seascapes it can include animals and birds that are found in aquatic environments, plant life that grows in ocean, lakes or ponds or figurative pieces that have a strong water element within them. Think laterally and you’ll find connections to water everywhere!
Deadline for submissions:
April 30, 2018
Professional and emerging artists may apply and all submissions will be reviewed before final approval.
The Baccalieu Gallery opens on May 12 and closes October 26, 2018.
