Notice of Reopening & School Updates
Wednesday, June 2, 2021

Dear Friends,

We are encouraged by the Government of Nova Scotia’s reopening plan entitled “Reopening Safely with COVID-19”, wherein “Phase 1” begins today, Wednesday, June 2. With respect to “Phase 1” our School has reopened and students and visitors are now welcome to stop by our office with a maximum of two visitors inside at one time.

“Phase 2” should begin within the following 2-4 weeks. Inasmuch as our School has spacious teaching studios and limited class sizes, 10 including the Instructor(s), our Summer 2021 courses can readily meet the “Phase 2” guidelines. Therefore we are hopeful that we can commence our Summer courses on July 5th pursuant to our published schedule. In making this announcement we wish to confirm that we shall continue to adhere strictly to the Public Health directives.

At this time, the “Atlantic Bubble” is not set to reopen until “Phase 3”. Currently, registered students from outside of Nova Scotia will not be able to attend our courses without first self-isolating within Nova Scotia for 14 days prior to the start date of your course. That is subject to change— everything is subject to the continuing decrease in cases and increase in vaccinations.

Art cannot be contained! We are grateful that together, Nova Scotians continue to confront the COVID-19 virus. With this team effort we shall prevent a further wave. We are grateful for the Public Health authorities whose leadership has made it possible for our Province to reopen.

Stay safe, stay healthy, and see you this summer!

The Honourable Wilfred P. Moore, Q.C., LL.D., Volunteer Chair

An ONLINE watercolour demonstration with William Rogers, CSPWC

Alla Prima Figure Painting

An ONLINE watercolour demonstration with William Rogers, CSPWC

June 16, 2021, 6:00 to 8:00 pm Eastern Time

CSPWC Members $20, Non-members $25

Register at https://cspwc.ca/alla-prima-figure-painting/

William Rogers, CSPWC, is known for his exquisite figure paintings, most often done from life.

In this two-hour demonstration Bill will paint a figure in watercolour, alla prima, from start to finish. He will use a photographic reference and will display the reference photo a few times during the demo for comparison. This will allow the audience to see how the artist captures the model and how he creates a painting that has aesthetic value as a work of art.

Bill will explain his process and considerations as he paints. There will be opportunities for questions during a break in the middle of the demo, and at the end. Questions can be typed in the chat box throughout the demo and will be shared with Bill during the question breaks.

Participants will receive a zoom link by email on June 14, 2021. A recording of the workshop will be made available to participants for a limited time after the event.

A Solo Exhibition by Anne Bastedo

April 22 -June 27, 2021

This exhibit features photos taken on a photo trip to Havana, Santieras and Trinidad, Cuba. Many people have holidayed in Cuba and returned with standard holiday shots. Instead, in this show I share what I captured of the people and culture of this wonderful country.

A video interview with Anne Bastedo about the exhibition is now available for viewing online.
