L’exposition des finalistes pour les prix d’excellences Nonesuch pour les arts papier ouvrira à Montréal le vendredi 1 décembre. Il y aura une réception ~ vernissage le samedi, 2 décembre de 13h à 17h à 141 rue Ann (Griffintown, Montréal). L’exposition restera à Montréal jusqu’au 16 décembre.  Il y aura une réception ~ finissage le samedi, 16 décembre de 17h à 21h Les lauréats seront annoncés pendant le finissage. Si vous venez de l’extérieur de la ville et avez besoin d’informations, telles que les directions ou les informations sur l’hébergement, n’hésitez pas à nous contacter.

The Nonesuch Art Of Paper Awards exhibition in Montreal will open on Friday, 1 December.  There is an opening reception ~ vernissage on Saturday, 2 December from 1pm to 5pm at 141 rue Ann (Griffintown, Montreal).  The exhibition will remain in Montreal until 16 December.  There will be a closing reception / finissage on Saturday, 16 December from 5pm to 9pm. The award recipients will be announced during the closing reception.  If you will be travelling from out of town and need information, such as directions or accommodation information, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Cette année, il y a eu plus de 220 soumissions de 16 pays, dont 131 provenant du Canada avec 51 de la région maritime et 68 du Québec. Les expositions montrent plus de 80 œuvres d’artistes en Argentine, Australie, Belgique, Canada, Colombie, Allemagne, Israël, Italie, Japon, Nouvelle-Zélande, Pologne, Suisse et États-Unis.
Six prix seront décernés: quatre sélectionnés par le jury et deux prix public, les prix Wellington Church, sélectionnées par le vote des visiteurs lors des expositions de Parrsboro et de Montréal.
This year there were over 220 submissions from 16 countries, 131 of these from Canada with 51 from the maritime region and 68 from Quebec.  The exhibitions include more than 80 works from artists in Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Colombia, Germany, Israel, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Poland, Switzerland, and the United States.
Six awards will be given: four selected by jury and two people’s choice awards, the Wellington Church awards, selected by visitor voting during the Parrsboro and Montreal exhibitions.

Printmaking residency retreat in Colombia

The Red Mango Residency Project

​Every winter the Plancha Perdida studio will open to give people an opportunity to create, relax and explore a beautiful part of Colombia. The Red Mango Residency Project consists of two 10-day retreats that are open to people of all levels.

Participants are welcome to work on their own projects, receive guidance or private workshops on printmaking or drawing techniques, or enjoy the space (horseback riding, hiking, fruit harvesting, exploring nearby villages etc.). You can choose how to divide your time.

This residency is made to be accessible to all who wish to attend. The cost is $350.00 CAD for meals, accommodation, studio space and basic studio materials for 10 days. High quality paper, metal plates, canvas, and alcohol will be available on site for an additional cost. Transportation to and from Villeta from Bogota will be arranged and shared between the group. A maximum of seven people can attend each session.

Private retreats outside of the Red Mango Residency Project are possible upon request and availability.

This year there were over 220 submissions from 16 countries, 131 of these from Canada with 51 from the maritime region. Call for Artists ~ Spartanburg Art Museum in Spartanburg, South Carolina, USA.

Spartanburg Art Museum is a regional museum promoting contemporary visual arts by inspiring and engaging people of all ages through exhibitions and education.

We’re seeking proposals for solo and group exhibitions for 2018 and 2019!

We’re interested in all types of work that address contemporary issues and concerns, use traditional materials in unusual ways, and elevate our visitors’ experiences to new levels of participation and engagement.

Any individual, collective, or group of artists located regionally, nationally, or internationally (ages 18+) may apply. All mediums and themes will be considered for exhibition.

Main & Station is pleased to announce the 2nd edition of the international NONESUCH ART OF PAPER AWARDS.
These awards are open to all artists.
Finalist works will be included in 2 Canadian exhibitions: in Montréal, Québec and in Parrsboro, Nova Scotia.
The awards consist of cash and residencies valued at over $ 27,000.00:

Submission Deadline: 30 April, 2017
For the first edition 230 entries were received from 17 different countries, including Argentina, Australia, Estonia, France, Italy, Israel, Japan, Spain, and the United States of America. Over 35 submissions came from artists living in the Maritime Provinces and over 55 from the island of Montreal.
More than 70 works of art were shown in the two finalist exhibitions. The diverse works created on or with paper included drawings, paintings, prints, sculptures, crochet hangings, origami, photography, collage and hand-made books by artists from all over the world and from around the corner.
Over 700 visitors participated in the public ballots to select the winner(s) of the Wellington Church Award, the people’s choice award.
