Woodcarving Courses with Jennifer Marlow

Woodcarving course

It is gratifying to push a sharp blade through a beautiful piece of wood. Participants will learn carving technique as well as the intrinsic properties of certain wood species. The ultimate goal is to nurture skill development over time so participants can enjoy woodcarving independently and with confidence.

Being one of the earliest forms of sculpture, relief carving continuously provides endless possibilities for the carver. Immersing yourself into the world of sharp blades and the smell of wood, we will give life to various designs. Beginning our roughing out with a little mallet work, we will then move through to the refinement stages using a variety of gouges, chisels and knives. The completion of these relief projects will equip the beginner with enough knowledge to begin their own relief carving independently. For the practiced carver, these projects will be an opportunity to enhance your skill and broaden your creativity.
