Gallery 18 Announces a Special Exhibit of Original Works by Henk Ykelenstam
Gallery 18 is pleased to announce an exhibit of original works by the late Prince Edward Island artist, Henk Ykelenstam. The exhibit includes oils, multi-media pieces, and graphite sketches. Many of the works are on display at Gallery 18 by way of a special agreement with the Ykelenstam estate. Henk Ykelenstam (1929-1992) was an accomplished artist in the super realism style. During his lifetime he exhibited at galleries in Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and at the Toronto International Art Fair. In addition, he was featured in two separate exhibitions at the Confederation Centre of the Arts in Charlottetown. Ykelenstam was also a talented musician and performed with several orchestras across Canada. Gallery 18 is open daily during the season. Sixteenth Annual Art Showcase

We are a group of eight artistic ladies that get together at least once a year to immerse ourselves in our art without the distractions of house and home. This year we have chosen the second week of June (11-18) for our retreat at Jackie Dunsworth’s remodeled fish plant in Northwest Cove. During this week we will strive to capture the natural beauty that surrounds us at this picturesque location. The Art of Abstraction; Four-Day Painting Workshop with Leya Evelyn

September 15-18, 2016, Baddeck, Cape Breton Island.


This four-day workshop will enable you to experience a new adventure in line, colour and texture. Working in water-based paints, a series of exercises will help loosen your brush work and pull you out of the realm of the representational, leading you to create solid painting ideas in the realm of abstraction.

This workshop includes exercises, discussion, work time and critiques of work in class as well as time to work on your own.  We will explore where your art is now and where it is going.

All levels of experience are welcome.

The cost is $290 and you will need to bring your own materials.  A non refundable deposit is requested by July 1st.
