Call for Artists “Annual Art Show for ElderDog”

ElderDog Canada,is a national, community-based, non-profit organization established and incorporated  in 2009. Our work is dedicated to the well-being of older people and older dogs. We rely on donations and fundraising to carry out our work. There are no fees for any of our services.

Our mission at ElderDog is to honour and preserve the human-animal bond through care, companionship, commemoration, and education. We do this through programs that include:

  • assisting and supporting older adults in the care and well-being of their canine companions
  • providing care and companionship for older dogs whose lives have been disrupted due to illness or the death of a human companion
  • educating health and animal care professionals and the general public of all ages about the human-animal bond in general and the significant role of companion animals in the health and well-being of seniors in particular
  • and honouring life and loss of canine companions through consolation, commemoration  and perpetual care

Elderdog Canada is having their inaugural “Annual Art Show for ElderDog”, in November, 2016. The event is designed to showcase artists work in a gallery type setting while inviting the general public to view the displays of art, enjoy a glass of wine and purchase the various works of art in support of ElderDog and the contributing artists. We seek artistic work from both professional and vocational artists in any media including, paint on paper, paint on canvas, paint on wood or stone, photography, sculpture and ceramics and beyond. Dogs are at the heart of Elderdog’s work, yet a focus on dogs is only one of the possibilities for subject matter. The main objective of course is as a fundraising gallery event. We seek mainly smaller scale artworks that can be expected to be sold to the general public for retail prices ranging from $50 to $500, although we are open to the idea of presenting larger, more expensive works as well and would be grateful for any and all contributions. For professional artists we will typically suggest a 50% donation, but we are open to a variety of arrangements. Works should be presented fully ready for display, paintings and photographs ready to be hung.

I am happy to send along any further information that you may require or to chat with you in person with more details.

I thank you in advance for your consideration and look forward to hearing from you. A response, in support or otherwise would be appreciated.
