Still time to bring in your work – Exhibit opening – Summer Camps

At Chester Art Centre, we want to continue to reassure you that we have been carefully following government rules and recommendations to manage the risks of COVID-19. We are working hard to ensure everyone at the centre is safe and healthy. That means when you come by, we recommend you wear a safe (but lovely) mask, sanitize your hands, and keep the fashionable 6-foot distance.

Here are the updates in protocol for Courses at Art Lab:

Given the nature of our current world we have worked to find a way to continue to make art and to still offer the opportunity of learning from some of the best. Of course we have had to make adjustments. For your security, the security of the instructors, and those of us at Art Lab here are some of the new conditions:

  1. Art Lab will be closed to the public during your course time so that the class area can be expanded making sure that social distancing is attained.

  2. Students will be asked to sanitize upon entry and frequently throughout the day, and to adhere to social distancing protocol.

  3. Masks will be required for use when needed.

The following is our revised plan for courses but of course things can change. If any cancellation is made necessary by Covid -19, your registration fee will be fully refunded.

Thomas Rand’s “Glimpses of Nova Scotia”

Opening Reception

Saturday, July 11, 2020 at 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM

The Ice House Gallery

Grace Jollymore Joyce Arts Centre

31 Creamery Road, Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia

“I was born and grew up in Bermuda but now live permanently in Halifax, Nova Scotia. After a 28 year career as a professor of Biology, I turned my passion to painting in watercolour. My paintings are largely landscapes and/or waterscapes. My subjects include Bermuda scenes, Vermont farmsteads, lakes and rivers, and Nova Scotian marsh-lands, flood plains, and lakes. I also love painting Margaree River, and other Cape Breton scenes. In all my paintings, I attempt to capture the essence of the environment, especially in creating the energy and mood of the subject.” -TR

Due to COVID, we will be limiting those in the Gallery of the Grace with labels on the floor to accommodate social distancing. We thank you for your patience as we find our way through these ever changing times. Should you have a cough, fever, or not feel well, we ask that you refrain from attending. While facemasks are encouraged, they will not be mandatory. We do, however, ask that you maintain a social distance of 2 meters while in our facilities
