Good Day Friends,
Time marches on and we are quickly overtaken by the gorgeous Autumn colours and the crisp November breeze, and we welcome esteemed Nova Scotian Artist, Charlotte Wilson-Hammond to The Craig Gallery.
Starting November 4th, Wilson-Hammond’s series, “IN/VISIBLE” will be featured in The Craig Main Gallery until November 29. Unfortunately, with our continued limited capacity, we will once again have to forego an opening reception.

“Charlotte Wilson-Hammond RCA ~ In/Visible~
‘My shadow rests lightly on the land…fleeting and ephemeral’
“During the last fifty years I have used my own body as a way of accessing the strength, sensuality, vulnerability, beauty, and now the fragility of the female form, all part of the eternal cycle of birth, growth, regeneration and death. Over the years I have explored these subjects, in both paint and drawing. Three years ago, I began a new series of conté drawings and shadow photograph/print/drawings, once again using myself as the subject. This new body of work reflects and explores the now serious process of aging and degeneration. At the age of 76, with various body part replacements (two shoulders) and a diagnosis of COPD, I struggle with the fact that I am getting old but am still fascinated by the fact that inside I feel as intensely as I always have – I still view the body as a sensual experience.
In this new work I am reflecting the fragility, vulnerability and yet the beauty and strength of this timeless human condition. One of the most mystifying aspects of aging is that one’s presence is diminished within the general public, often to the point of invisibility.”
