Update from Lunenburg School of the Arts

Dear Friends,

Our School has been closely following the evolving situation with regard to the continuing COVID-19 Pandemic, the current “lock down” that extends to the second week in June, and the possible impact on our Summer 2021 schedule. We are hopeful that the current “lock down” restrictions will be eased in time for the scheduled start of our Summer program on July 5.

You may recall that in response to the Pandemic in 2020 our Summer program observed a limit of 10 persons in each course, including the instructor(s). This, along with our socially distanced table configurations in our spacious teaching studios, allowed us to comfortably and safely continue with our courses.

Three of our Summer 2021 instructors are from outside of Nova Scotia. The current travel restrictions between provinces, and between Canada-USA do not permit trans-border travel. We are hopeful that there will be an easement of this restriction in time for our guest instructors to come to Lunenburg.

A number of our students are from outside Nova Scotia, and the current travel restriction prevents them also from coming to Lunenburg. Again, we hope that there will be an easement of the travel restriction so that these students can participate in our Summer program.

Our School is looking forward to our 6th Summer and its wonderful collection of courses. We will be listening closely to the announcements and directives provided by the Premier of Nova Scotia, Iain Rankin, and the Chief Medical Officer of the Province of Nova Scotia, Dr. Robert Strang, as we all continue to work through this virus challenge. Our School will issue a further update on or before June 5, 2021, as to the status of our Summer program.

Stay safe, stay healthy, and hope to see you this summer.

The Honourable Wilfred P. Moore, Q.C., LL.D.,Volunteer Chair
