Parrsboro Creative is a not-for-profit art organization located in a growing rural community on the spectacular Minas Basin & Bay of Fundy and the largest plein air festival organizer in Canada, awarding cash and product prizes to winning competitors from all over North America. We also run the Cultural Campus from May to October annually, partnering with affiliate organizations to offer seasonal, cultural courses and workshops in various artistic disciplines.

The positions are:

1. CSJ Seasonal Part-Time Administrative Assistant
($14.00 hourly rate/ 25 hours per week for 12 weeks)
Projected Start Date: 2021-05-03

Please note that this position is dependent on funding from Canada Summer Jobs, and interested applicants must be eligible through the program in order to be considered:

    • be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
    • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and,
    • have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations

Key responsibilities of the Administrative Assistant include but are not limited to:

Communications

    • Composing and designing monthly newsletters to Membership and Subscribers in MailChimp
    • Maintaining and updating website in Squarespace platform
    • Maintaining and updating database with contacts
    • Receive calls and answering enquiries by phone, email and social media
    • Writing and distributing news releases
    • Creating and promoting social media posts in Hootsuite, a social media management platform for Facebook, Instagram and Twitter


Operations & Support for Programs

    • Archive documents and maintain records of programs according to filing system in hard and digital copy
    • Assist in general purchasing and bookkeeping for office activities
    • Liaise with vendors and suppliers for programs
    • Assist Executive Director with grant research and funding opportunities
    • Assist students with registration for Cultural Campus Courses & Workshops
    • Assist with pre-production tasks of cultural events such as the plein air festival, courses, and pop-up art fairs

2. CSJ Seasonal Full-Time Program Co-ordinator
($17.50 hourly rate/ 35 hours per week / 20 weeks)
Projected Start Date: 2021-05-10

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Marketing & Promotion of Programs

    • Ensure promotional coverage of events are included in print, online, newsletters and other media
    • Develop and design program materials such as flyers, banners and advertisements
    • Update website and create monthly plan for social media management tool
    • Monitor social media and correspond with membership, volunteers and board
    • Delegate communications to Administrative Assistant when applicable
    • Provide reports on traffic and engagement on social media, website and other analytics


Program Development & Execution

    • Use Asana as a Project Management platform; track expenses, goals and deadlines.
    • Develop Process & Standards documents in accordance with board policies
    • Make Purchase Orders and liaise with vendors and suppliers
    • Research grant and social enterprise opportunities to support new initiatives
    • Develop and set up local exhibition space on-site for membership
    • Set up event and provide support on site for special events which will require off-site work on weekends or evenings
    • Provide monthly reports on program and event details
    • Participate and contribute in Programming Committee meetings
    • Lead Contact for Volunteers; provide guidance and support during events
