Registration deadlines are coming up soon and some workshops are already filling up so register today! All workshops are 2 hours and take place over Zoom so you can take them from anywhere.

In case they missed something (or their internet cuts out), all registered participants will be sent a link to a recording of the workshop that will be available for two weeks after the live presentation, but you need to register before the deadline.

VANS workshops are $30 for VANS Members and $45 for Non-members or you can bundle three workshops (using discount code: 3 Workshop Bundle at checkout) and save! It’s a good deal. DOCUMENTING YOUR WORK (NEEDS 3 MORE REGISTERED TO RUN)

How do you show the world your work, on your website, in your portfolio, and when applying for grants? This workshop will show artists how to photograph 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional work using a digital camera, along with a variety of lighting methods including professional and household lighting. The workshop will also provide basic instruction on how to download images from camera to computer, and how to resize images for web applications.

THE DOs & DON’Ts OF EXHIBITION PROPOSALS

This workshop will begin by reading through sample calls for submissions from public galleries and artist run centres to identify and decipher application criteria. Participants will learn how to research galleries and ARCs to see where they might best apply. This workshop will address formatting and content for resumes, artist statements, cover letters, letters of intent, and tips for choosing support material, including image files, size, and quantity. Questions are encouraged!

WEBSITES, SOCIAL MEDIA, & TECH: CREATING YOUR BRAND

Technology gives artists powerful tools to build a professional presence. But knowing which tools are best, and how to use them effectively, can be a challenge. This workshop will provide an overview of the top website builders, email marketing and newsletter services, and social networks (Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter) that can help you build your brand. You’ll learn how you can use these tools in your own professional practice to enhance your online presence and boost your business.

We’ll also take a look at search engines, social media advertising, and online payment processors like Stripe, as well as the most reputable sites to sell your work, whether you sell from your own website or not. At the end of this session you’ll see how the tools discussed fit together to help you work smarter, and how to reach your goals within a sensible schedule and well within the leanest budget.
