Artist Bio

Sharon Cave – Bio

Born in England, Sharon Cave has spent her adult life in Canada. Here she studied graphic design and was engaged commercially for several years before turning to painting as a means to express herself. Over the years, she has experimented in several mediums, though currently works in oils.

Continuous self-study gives Sharon the freedom to express herself in her work. People and animals feature prominently, often with a sense of individualism and solitude.

Artist Statement

100 Dresses

By Sharon Cave

The pieces in this show are an ongoing project entitled “100 Dresses”.

In this solo project I will be creating 100 paintings and sketches of dresses that I have either purchased from thrift stores or have had donated to me.

Every dress already has a story that needs to be told.

I try to capture this story in my work. Some paintings are evocative while others poignant and some just plain fun. Dresses on hangers without form: calm, elegant, still. Dresses with form: showcased on a perfect bodice for an imperfect body. Dresses on a human spirit: the body and movement implied

Every painting tells a unique story.

Every dress that I paint will then be donated to the Glass Slipper Organization: an organization that collects prom dresses and gives them to girls in need, because everyone should feel beautiful on their special day.

Every dress has another story in the making.

The #ARTCART Project is on its way! We’re building the carts and collecting supplies and our minds are blown away by the support and generosity of our community members! Almost daily people are stopping by with donations for the project – supplies, tools, $$, we’ll happily take it all!

A very special thanks to Frank Orlando of Orlando Media,, for the most excellent new logo design, we love it – have a look below…

We’ll be sending out info soon about our launch and what you can expect with the ARTCART programming.

Please keep checking here or on our Facebook Page: to stay up on the latest Craig Studio news!
