Position: Executive Director, Chester Art Centre

For more than a decade, The Chester Art Centre (CAC) has been dedicated to its vision of realizing an inspiring, imaginative, dynamic and vibrant arts community in Chester, Nova Scotia. It is a non-profit organization with a dedicated Board of Directors. The Chester Art Centre offers a wide variety of experiential classes, workshops, lectures and exhibitions delivered by professional artists in diverse mediums.

As the full time Executive Director, you will report to the Board of Directors, work collaboratively with its committees, and be accountable for the quality and success of the Centre. Interacting and clearly communicating with the Board of Directors and its Committees is mandatory. You will provide mature leadership, sound management and strategic direction. Drawing on your effective communication strengths and experienced leadership, you will be the ambassador and face of the organization, champion its mission and vision, be the catalyst for stakeholder relationship building and community engagement to promote the CAC, invite participation and cultivate support. The key priorities include guiding the development of CAC year round programming, enhancing exhibits, and developing and fostering relationships with donors, sponsors and key government funders. You will actively engage the artistic and broader community, and collaborate with other artistic agencies and community organizations.

As the ideal candidate, you have leadership experience and strategic foresight and preferably a deep appreciation, passion and knowledge of the arts. You have experience in growth-oriented organizations with many stakeholders, developing and managing budgets and strategic and operational planning skills. You possess capabilities in marketing, and fund development and are known to work well with and for others. Experience in ensuring excellence in visitor service and engagement will be a significant asset. You lead with a collegial approach and are known for your strong communication skills. Current IT skills are essential to the position.
