Visual Voice in October – Art Show and Concert

128 King Street, Downtown Truro

Imaginary Landscapes’ ART SHOW

Truro, NS. Saturday, Oct 4, 2019 – Visual Voice Fine Art gallery

Visual Voice Fine Art is proud to present the work of: Kate Ward, Nancy Roberts, and Kristina Sobstad. Sculpture, Fabric arts and Painting mesh in a creative interdisciplinary art exhibit focusing on, as the title of the show indicates, Imaginary Landscapes. Blurring the line between the conscious and the unconscious, the introspective and the extrospective, the tranquil and the dynamic. There is also a good dash of playfulness and whimsy to charm all audiences.

Join us for the opening reception on FRIDAY, Oct 4th from 5:00 to 7:30 pm. The show continues until Nov 2nd, at the gallery’s regular hours: Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 12:30 to 5:00 pm.

Visual Voice Fine Art is proud to present Azuline Duo in Concert at the gallery.

Azuline Duo features award-winning musicians Sara Traficante (flute) and Emma Rush (guitar). This ensemble pushes the boundaries of their instruments and conventional programming with unusual and rarely heard pieces both historical and contemporary, and a dynamic onstage presence that engages the audience from the first note.Their newest program showcases the rich history of the guitar and the brilliant voice of the flute in an exciting chamber music setting. The traditional sounds of Spain feature in a new arrangement of Santiago de Murcia’s triumphant baroque Fandango, and virtuosic transcriptions of the gypsy-flamenco music of Manuel de Falla. As the music of Spain travelled to South America one encounters a different scene: the haunting rainforest soundscapes of Villa Lobos, punchy Afro-latin rhythms of Pujol, the sultry sounds of Buenos Aires in the tango music of Piazolla, and the sparkling works of Chiquinha Gonzaga, Brazil’s groundbreaking first female professional musician.Plaintive melodies and frenetic rhythm define Tadic’s Macedonian Dances, featuring the deep resonance of the alto flute. The wooden Celtic flute makes an appearance in stunning Irish and Scottish melodies. This program is a favourite with all audiences, combining lyrical sensitivity and showstopping technique in a compelling and unusual presentation.
