Vaughan was born and raised in New Brunswick and educated in Montreal. After a career in Education in Toronto, he retired to NS. He had dabbled in oils over the years but began to take lessons in acrylic as a retirement project, taking courses with many American and Canadian artists. Vaughan teaches art to the residents at the Mahone Nursing Home and his lessons are enthusiastically appreciated. He has always been intrigued with colour, shape, light and shadow. The beauty of Nova Scotia constantly inspires him as an artist to recreate its beauty on canvas.
