Lunenburg – The juxtaposition of simplicity to complexity and of visual convention to that of nature is evident and compelling in the works presented by three very diverse Nova Scotian artists:
Heather Waugh Pitts, Alex Pfaff, Nadine Belliveau
Their show INTERACTIONS reveals a connection among the works done by the artists and a connection between the artist and the world around them.
LUNENBURG ART SOCIETY
194B Lincoln St, Lunenburg NS
from June 26th to July 28th 2019
Heather Waugh Pitts expresses her ideas on nature and natural forms through sculptural ceramics. The power of the medium and the textural development evokes an instinctive response in the viewer and directs our observations into expanding our interpretations.
Alex Pfaff uses colour and complex constructions of shapes and lines to develop movementindicative of his subject matter. He too looks to nature and cultural patterns as inspiration forhis paintings.
Nadine Belliveau paints bold yet subtle works that evoke a quieter world, a world that is just getting on with life. Her subject matter ranges from rural settings, flowers and brief moments in living. Some forms are pared down to prominent almost abstract shapes while other worksexpand on texture derived from the form.
These three artist provide an intimate construct of their world but also they present a portal for us to travel through and to build our own belief and understanding of the gifts this world provides.
The Featured Artists capture the centre stage but are complemented by new works by our members in the Lunenburg Art Society Members Gallery.
