Join VANS for the opening of the 2018-19 Mentorship Program Exhibition group effort June 26 at The Craig Gallery at Alderney Landing! This exhibition features recent work from mentees artists Carrie Allison, Emily Lawrence, Jenny Yujia Shi, and Katharine (Kyle) Vingoe-Cram, as well as work from their mentors Ursula Johnson, Peter Dykhuis, Charley Young and Karin Cope. Come out and see some great art, enjoy some nibblies, and support these emerging artists!
Want to know more about the emerging artists in the program? Come out to the Mentee Artist Talk on Saturday, July 13 at 2pm as we chat about their work in the exhibition and their experience in the Mentorship Program.
Since the Mentorship Program’s inception in 2006, Visual Arts Nova Scotia has successfully paired emerging artists with established artists to take part in a 10-month mentorship. The Mentorship Program provides an exceptional opportunity for emerging artists to develop both their creative process and professional skills, thus building the foundation for a successful career in the visual arts. As a secondary outcome, the program offers established artists an opportunity to pass on their experience, resources, knowledge, and insight. For information on the program visit: visualarts.ns.ca/program/
Want more information on the Mentorship Program? There will be an info session at VANS in Halifax on Thursday, June 27 at 6pm, or email us to request a Skype info session.
Visual Arts Nova Scotia gratefully acknowledges core funding for the Mentorship Program and exhibition from The Craig Foundation.
The program is also supported by the Nova Scotia Department of Communities, Culture and Heritage, the Halifax Regional Municipality, and The Craig Gallery.
