Reminders from VANS…New Grad Program, Mentorship Show, AGM and more!

Just a little reminder to…

Sign up for the New Grad Program

During the New Grad Program,, all participants will be given the opportunity to take weekly professional development workshops on topics such as budgeting, applying for grants, writing about your work, and networking. They’ll have 24 hour access to a shared studio space in Halifax; studio visits from an artist/curator; and be coached by mentor Eryn Foster: a professional interdisciplinary artist and curator.

The 14 week program starts early in August and any recent art school grad (within 3 years of graduation) can apply. If you haven’t attended art school but are in the early stages of your career as an emerging artist, this program could be for you too, just tell us why. See all the details here. The application is so short and we will consider them in the order in which they are received so send yours into today! If you know someone who should apply, please pass it along. Deadline: June 10.

Take our NEW survey!

Visual Arts Nova Scotia wants to hear from you! Take our artist survey to help shape the future of VANS’ programming and membership, and help us understand the needs of artists. The survey can be found here: https://forms.gle/6Kd53dy1HknyhUwr8.

This survey will take 10-15 minutes to complete. Responses will only be used by VANS, to inform our work and help us to advocate for artists. Fill out your contact information at the end to be entered into a draw for a free membership, a gift subscription to Visual Arts News magazine, and take our 2020 webinar series free!

Thank you for telling us how we can better work for artists like you. Please complete the survey by July 1.

Submit your updates for Members’ News!

Members’ News is our quarterly e-newsletter relaying brief updates on our members’ current practices and professional successes. Fun fact: Members’ News is consistently the most read email that we send out – so send us your news because your peers are genuinely interested in what you’re up to. Have you recently had an exhibition, residency, or won an award? Let us know!

To participate artists must be current VANS members. News items must be no more than 100 words and written in third person. Send your updates in an email to vans@visualarts.ns.ca with the subject line “Members’ News”. Deadline: extended to June 12.

If you haven’t yet renewed, it is easier than ever as you can renew online, by mail, using e-transfer, or over the phone. If you have renewed since October (thanks to all who have), your membership won’t expire until the end of 2019.
