This Art Exhibition is a visual journey of three PEI women that are close friends, and have diverse backgrounds but similar interests. This Exhibition features over 75 chosen works that relate both directly to the Island, and our own individual journey through life. We each have our own distinctive styles to convey our message to the viewers. Some artworks are scenes of the Island to depict its beauty, some imaginative and dreamlike to interest the free thinker, and some more realistic of life around us. The art works have been completed in the last three years, and our goal in life is to inspire others.
I work in Pastel throughout the summer months while drawing on location and work on new Woodcuts or Lino cuts (Printmaking art) in the winters. The Pastel art work for this exhibition is from three years of summer afternoons spent with other senior Artists at various locations on the Island. I draw or paint what is around me, but I do have a good imagination and love to experiment , and get messy.
My style is strong with dreamlike tendencies and colours I love.I work in many different mediums; amongst them are: Silk painting with French dyes, Enamels, Acrylics, and Oils with Palette knife. I work mainly in plein air, when the weather takes me out of my studio. Every painting is like a story unfolding where I am able to share some meaning of my life with others. In words”I find painting a form of meditation, where I am very much in the present, but yet in another world.”
I paint from my love of life. My acrylics are imaginative and inspired by my interests in colour, mood, folklore and looking beyond the ordinary. My primary interests are Acrylics, Mixed media, and Oils. I also enjoy using natural components from nature such as bark or seaweed in my interpretive pieces.
