The Scotia Suzuki School of Music in Halifax will be hosting the exciting new, all ages, Maritime Traditional Music & Dance Camp the week of August 19th-23rd.
This will be an all-age camp that offers classes and evening concerts in traditional French, Celtic, Indigenous music including Wendy MacIsaac, Andrew Dawydchak, Samantha Robichaud, and Jocelyne Bourque teaching fiddle and Kimberley Holmes teaching both fiddle and piano chording. The camp will also provide a wide variety of Maritime dance including highland dance with Marielle Lesperance, lots of step dance, and a variety of Indigenous dances. The camp has over 14 instructors from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Ontario teaching many disciplines.

The camp offers students the choice to study any combination of traditional French, Indigenous, and/or Celtic music and/or dance during the course of five days. Students can develop and strengthen their skills to a higher level, in their current field of study – but they can also experience, explore, and learn new skills that are part of other cultures that they haven’t been able to try. Students will come to camp identifying a major and up to three minors to study; they can have a cultural focus or a discipline focus while at the camp.
