Open Grants to Galleries, Groups, and Collectives – Accepting applications until April 30

Open Grants

Visual Arts Nova Scotia is accepting proposals from groups, galleries

and/or collectives to create new programming or enhance existing programming in their community. The intention of the Open Grants program is to encourage art engagement activities across Nova Scotia.

Any gallery, group or collective is eligible to apply for up to $500 to assist with costs related to an activity. Galleries, groups, or collectives must fill out a short application form (on the VANS website) and project budget to receive funds. All applications will be reviewed by the VANS Programming Committee and notified within 2 weeks of the deadline.

VANS does not prescribe how funds must be spent; however, priority will be given to projects that have direct engagement with their community (including hands-on workshops, educational programming, artist talks, and public interventions). Activities can include, but are certainly not limited to, a pop-up residency, occupying a vacant storefront as exhibition space, or activating non-traditional spaces into art spaces.

Deadline: April 30, 2019.
