Saturday! Free Poetry workshop with Israel Ekanem

Black Out Poetry with Israel Ekanem

CFAT is proud to present the second in a series of workshops by our current Artist in Residence, Israel Ekanem. This month Israel will be joined by local comedian Kristyn Green. Kristyn Green has been performing stand-up comedy for 2 years in Halifax and Toronto. She has studied Improv, Acting, and Comedy Writing at Second City Toronto, has taught Stand-Up Comedy classes on-board cruise ships, and most recently has performed on Eastlink TV’s comedy show, Stand and Deliver. Following Israel’s discussion with Kristyn, Israel will teach participants how to make blackout poetry. If you’d like to keep up with Israel’s daily poetry follow him at @myblackoutpoems on Instagram or at https://www.myblackoutpoems.com/

This workshop is free and open to people of all ages and skill levels. Markers and newspapers will be provided, but feel free to bring newspapers if you have them. No poetry experience is necessary! We will have free snacks and refreshments.

During his residency, Israel will be making a documentary about blackout poetry. There may be some video and audio recorded at this workshop. If you do not wish to appear on video, simply tell a CFAT staff member.

Workshops will be held at the Centre for Art Tapes                           (2238 Maitland St, Halifax.) on the following dates:
Saturday, January, 19th – 1 – 3pm
Saturday, February 16th 1 – 3pm
