Sawbones; Hospitals, Institutions, Medicine & Nursing (1749-2018). Light refreshments; CTV’s Jason Baxter as emcee.

Anyone connected to the VG, QEII, IWK-Grace, Dartmouth General, Nova Scotia Hospital/Mount Hope as a patient or health provider, as well as those interested in regional history or photography will want to read this work.

This is Ms. Edwards 4th trade publication, and this one is spectacular: 269 years of medical history (doctors, nurses, disease) and the development of hospitals and evolution of quality care regionally to combat disease, catastrophe, war. The author calls it “a five year labour of love”. Perhaps the most comprehensive survey of its kind published in/on HRM: 224 pages with 230+ photographs; many of these places long gone in the evolution of the region.
