ECMA Award Winner Teresa Doyle and her son Patrick Bunston performing at St, Mark’s Place, 5142 Highway 332, Middle LaHave, NS

on Friday, October 5th from 7:30-9:30pm

Prince Edward Island singer Teresa Doyle has performed at virtually every folk festival in the country, has shared the stage with Stan Rogers and The Chieftains, and toured the U.S., Europe, India, Australia, and Japan. She sings an eclectic mix of folk, jazz, Celtic, Gaelic, and world music. Her songs are a travelogue of her journeys.

“I saw Teresa Doyle and her son Patrick Bunston at Music PEI showcases and was impressed with their versatility and professionalism. I hired them for the Mariposa Folk Festival and was more than pleased with what they brought to the festival — original songwriting, multi-cultural and world music presentations, a performance on the children’s stage and a positive vibe overall. She’s a tremendous person to work with.”
— Mike Hill, Artistic Director, Mariposa Folk Festival, Orillia, ON

Teresa’s twelve releases have garnered three ECMA awards and two JUNO nominations. She performs with stunning vocals, catchy songwriting and a Maritime sense of humour. Joining her on stage is her multi-talented son Patrick Bunston. Growing up in a musical family Patrick has been performing since Oliver Schroer gave him his first fiddle lesson at age four. Together they’ve toured the country three times sharing their sweet family vocals and Patrick’s considerable skill on guitar, saxophone, and mandolin. Earlier this year they toured Australia and performed at the world-renowned Woodford Folk Festival in Queensland and The Cygnet Festival in Tasmania.

Also, on Saturday, October 6th from 10:00am-3:30pm Teresa will be offering a song writing workshop. Teresa has been writing, recording and performing her own songs for decades. She writes songs based on folk legends that she collects, jazz songs, songs about social and political issues, climate change and much more.

Come share your own compositions, songs in progress or tips on how to get started. Teresa will review basic song structure and share some vocal technique to help make your music come alive.  Bring lunch and a snack for yourself and water!
