Fall 2018 Workshops

Lunenburg School of the Arts is pleased to present its Fall 2018 list of workshops and instructors.

The School is located at 6 Prince Street (at the corner of Montague) in a historic two-storey building in the heart of Old Town Lunenburg. The building was originally built to house Lunenburg Motors in 1933. After other incarnations the building was renovated in 2014 to house our School.

“We are excited to welcome two new instructors to our line-up this Fall”, says LSA Volunteer Chair, Wilfred P. Moore. Award winning sculptor, Chippie Kennedy, joins us for a ‘Portrait Workshop’, offering students a four full-days experience sculpting the head from life in water based clay. Artist and design professional, Michael Peters, will teach a drawing workshop, ‘Take a Line for a Walk’, on Wednesday evenings, designed for individuals with little or no prior drawing skills, and for those with some experience who wish to refresh their skills.

Marla Benton’s ‘It’s a Family Affair’ workshop, is for parents and their child(ren) working side by side while they play with clay. Marla will also be teaching LSA’s popular ‘Coffee & Clay’ and ‘Kids & Clay’ ceramic workshops on Wednesdays.

Celebrated water colourist, Tom Ward, of Mahone Bay, returns for a 10-week Monday evening’s session, ‘Studio Water Colour Painting’, and Kara Highfield is back in the ceramics department teaching LSA’s ‘Tuesday Clay Club’ and on Wednesday evenings, ‘Wheel Throwing’.

“Buff up your bowling shoes”, says Douglas Bamford, LSA Bowling League leader, as we Ramp It Up towards our biennial fundraiser in support of Second Story Woman’s Centre…stay tuned for further details.

Our Fall 2018 offerings and registration can be found on the LSA website at www.lunenburgarts.org/programs or at 902-640-2013.
