Biography
Evegenia Makogon is an artist living in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She grew up in Sochi, a town in the southern part of Russia.
Evgenia’s passion for art began when she was 12 years old. After attending Sochi art school, painting and drawing became her main subjects of interest. She continued to develop her skills while attending Russian State Pedagogical University. After immigrating to Halifax, Evgenia decided to continue her art education. She graduated from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design with her BFA in 2005.
Evgenia is very passionate about painting in oil and acrylic, and enjoys working with a variety of subject matters: still life, landscapes and cityscapes. Evgenia participates in annual fund raising events such as Paint Sea on Site in Lunenburg and Paint Peggy’s Cove, and her works can be found in several local galleries.
Artist Statement
I love to paint things that are beautiful, colourful and happy. My art is inspired by coastal Nova Scotia and simple things in life.
