Encaustic workshop in Parrsboro at Art Lab

Demystifying Encaustic

with Lynn Rotin BFA BA

Art Lab Studios and Gallery, Parrsboro

Saturday July 14 and Sunday July 15

Lose yourself in two days of art-making in beautiful Parrsboro while learning the ancient technique of encaustic painting.

What is encaustic? It’s basically painting with melted beeswax coloured with pigment. Fun and forgiving, the process is suitable for everyone even those with no art experience (actually they often make the best work!) while offering enough of a challenge to professional artists trying it for the first time.

Well over 200 people (some people have taken it two or three times!) have learned this process from me and all have left the workshops with art ready to hang on their walls or give as gifts.

If you haven’t been to Parrsboro before, you’re due for a visit. In the past several years it has become a hub for art with several galleries and the newly established Parrsboro Creative initiative. The landscape is beautiful, Wild Caraway Restaurant is in nearby Advocate Harbour and there are many b&b’s nearby where you can stay.
