This work will be performed at the Summerworks festival in August in Toronto, and they will be sharing their work in progress and some of their performance at Ross Creek on Saturday, June 9 at 7 pm!

A chance to see artists in action, as they create their work at Ross Creek!

Community Supper in Canning on June 10!

Ross Creek is proud to work with the Canning Food Bank and local farmers in a joint project to increase access to delicious and nutritious food and excitement about the art of cooking for families in our area.

We are beginning with monthly community suppers at the Canning Lion’s Hall, and the wider community is welcome to come and cook with the Ross Creek chef,  eat together, enjoying live music, and family art activities! The suppers is made into family meals which are then distributed through the food bank.

The goal is to create more food security in our region and decrease reliance on processed foods, while engaging new families in the process of cooking and preserving local food from farmers such as TapRoot and Longspell Farm. Together we hope to keep food in our community, reduce waste, and inspire the next generation of cooks, all while having fun and creating community!

This month’s music is provided by Chris Robison and Zak Miller. Chris also plays in the Hupman Brothers Band and is also a restaurateur (The Rolled Oat). Zak is also a farmer. Together they make great tasting music! This project is supported by the Building Vibrant Communities program of the NS Government. We encourage monetary donations to the food bank from those who are able so we can buy food directly from farmers and make healthier, fresher meals for the food bank.

Everyone is welcome to participate in any part they like!
Canning Lion’s Hall 1000 Seminary Ave. Canning B0P 1H0
Cooking begins at 4 pm, Family art activities begin at 5:00 pm

Calling all teachers: Special on field trips!

Looking for a field trip to round out your school year, while exploring another culture and encouraging creativity and getting outside?

We are thrilled to offer special subsidized school programs exploring the work of our  gallery artist, Soheila Esfahani, thanks in part to the Canada Council for the Arts.  Bring your class for an awesome trip to Persia through Art! Our school programs give new cultural understanding and skills and we are delighted to be able to guide students’ explorations of Canadian artists working in different traditions. All materials are included in these hands-on workshops, and we can offer lunch, outside time, and much more. We gear these programs to all ages, as with our regular school programs.
