Basic Sculpting with Vasilis Vasili

Maximum 12 people (age 16+)
Materials: Clay or Plasticine and plaster. L:earn the first and basic steps of making sculpture. See examples of Vasilis’ work where he incorporated the use of mould-making HERE.
The participants will choose between two themes. The first will be representative and the second will be developing an Idea.

Brief introduction to Vasilis and his work. He will talk about the workshop project and suggest themes for participants to work on.
Day one will include an instructor demo, after which participants will start their own moulds and have one-on-one assistance with Vasilis.
Process and casting. Participants will be given a demo on the process of casting their moulds in plaster. Depending on experience and skill, participants will also have the option of working in 3D (rather than just relief). Participants will have the option of taking their finished cast piece home.
Vasilis Vasili studied at The School of Fine Arts in Athens under the professor E. Panourias and T. Papagiannis from 1992 to 1997. In 1999 having a scholarship from The Greek Foundation of Scholarships and from Onassis Foundation he moved to United States. In 2001 he received a Masters of Fine Arts from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. From 2004 to 2013 Vassilis was teaching at the Technological Institution of Athens, Greece. From 2006 to 2008 he also was teaching at the Department of Fine Arts at the University of West Macedonia in Florina, Greece. In 2013 he moved to Canada where he lives with his family.
