Renowned Artist Raymond Chow Featured at Art 1274 Hollis
“Painted Ladies,” an exhibition by renowned Canadian artist Raymond Chow,
will run throughout April
at Art 1274 Hollis, the Hollis Street, Halifax gallery.
Vancouver-born Chow, a Pleasantville, Nova Scotia resident for the past few years, has gained international recognition over his multi-decade career. Chow’s colourful, detailed paintings feature subjects ranging from children and women to cityscapes, beaches and gardens. In recent years, he has also experimented with abstracts. Among his many commissioned works are portraits of such Hollywood luminaries as Clint Eastwood and 70’s pop icons Sonny and Cher. Chow’s works are featured in many public and corporate collections and his paintings have been in exhibitions across North America, as well as in major European and Asian centres.
In addition to holding a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of British Columbia, Chow also studied piano at Toronto’s Royal Conservatory of Music. Along with painting and drawing, his career has included musical composition.
“Painted Ladies” features vivid, larger-scale female portraits. To celebrate the show, Chow will create a portrait for the winner of a prize draw open to all purchasers of the paintings during the exhibit’s run.
“Painted Ladies” will open Thursday, April 5, from 6 to 8 pm.
Art 1274 is open seven days a week, from 10 am to 6 pm.
