WHY ABSTRACTION
Painting Workshop with Leya Evelyn

Six unique workshops in abstract painting at St. Luke’s United Church in Tantallon, NS.

Playing with Colour, Composition and Texture.

Working in water-based paints, a series of exercises will help loosen your brush work and pull you out of the realm of the representational.

We will look at balance, tension, focus, image, colour and ground.

All levels of experience welcome

Dates: Every other Wednesday, April 4, 18,

May 2, 16, 30, June 13.

Place: St Luke’s United Church,

#5374 Route 3,

across from the Bike & Bean

Time: 11 am to 4:00 pm.

Cost: $360 for all six workshops

or a drop-in fee of $65 for the day.

The workshops include discussion, work time and critiques of work done in class as well as on your own time. We explore where your art is now and where it could be.

The format will be with exercises for the first hour or two and then you can work on your own pieces or continue with what you started in the morning. The exercises are intended to open up different possibilities within the realm of abstraction. These workshops will challenge, satisfy, frustrate and give you a foundation for creating solid painting ideas.
