Intro to Photography Course
Synopsis: This 7-week course discusses the fundamentals of photography, including: exposure and its components (aperture, shutter speed, and ISO); metering; focus; white balance; basic composition; camera care; and lenses and other photo accessories. The goals are to provide students with a foundation in the basics. to familiarize them with their camera settings, and to discuss how aperture, ISO, and shutter speed can be used to control both the exposure (brightness) of a photo as well as creative effects such as depth-of-field and motion blur.
Date: 16 January to 27 February 2018 (Tuesday evenings, 18:30-21:00)
Location: Ivan’s Camera, 181 St. George Street, Moncton, NB
Cost: $225 per participant (maximum of 10 participants)
Instructor: Moncton-based photographer Dan MacDonald has taught introductory photography since 2011. His professional work spans the genres of sports, dance, and media (editorial), and his clients include: QMi Agency; Government of New Brunswick; the Université de Moncton; danse DNA dance; and the NHL. Dan has also been awarded a New Brunswick Arts Grant, served as the 2015 Port Bickerton Lighthouse Artist-in-Residence, and his had several of his fine art photographs accepted for juried exhibitions.
