“Abstract Studio – a Show by 12 Artists” at Chase Gallery
Abstract Studio’s first group show will open Thursday, November 2, between 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm, at the Chase Gallery in the Nova Scotia Archives and run throughout the month.
Abstract Studio’s 12 members work in oil, acrylic and mixed media in styles that range from abstract impressionism to neo-expressionism to post-painterly abstraction. The members are Sarah Archibald, Cynthia Dean, D. Gwen Dueck, Kathryn Harley Haynes, Vaughan Irwin, Barbara King, Paulette Melanson, Ruth Ann Moger, Mora Morris, Sue Sadoway, Barbara Scott and Bobbi Young. While the individual painters take their own unique approaches, they meet bi-weekly to discuss ideas of abstraction in art and see each other’s work in progress.
Chase Gallery at the Nova Scotia Archives is located at 6016 University Avenue, Halifax.
The show will continue through Tuesday, November 28.
Gallery hours are: Monday – Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, except Wednesday, 8:30 am to 9:00 pm; Saturday, 9 am to 5:00 pm; closed Sundays and Saturday, November 11 and Monday, November 13.
