Avatars of Human Creativity: Exploring the ArtSci Connect
November 17th – 18th, 2017 at CBU
We are mobilizing research and practice that enhances art through the incorporation of science and scientific research through art!
The programming includes three exciting events happening at Cape Breton University.
Explore creative inter-disciplinary connections between the arts and science by focusing on the visual arts as they are used and expressed in the STEM fields, creating “STEAM” (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics).
Explore how the Mi’kmaw principle of Two-Eyed Seeing, or Etuaptmunk in Mi’kmaw, can be implemented, integrated and communicated through contemporary artistic practice. We will use this guiding principle to address how art intersects with science by connecting contributors of Aboriginal identity and heritage with artists, researchers, educators and the public to address new ways of learning through cross-cultural exchange.
The events are all free to attend. Registration is required for the BioArt Workshops and the STEAM Conference. Please visit our website for more details.
Keynote Speaker: Dr. Andrew Pelling (Canada Research Chair in Experimental Cell Mechanics, Associate Professor at University of Ottawa, Founder and Director of the Pelling Lab, and 2017 TED Senior Fellow)
