Summer Craft Residency Works
Sept 1 – 17
Opening: August 31, 6pm
The Mary E. Black Gallery is pleased to present Creases, Fold, an exhibition of work created by our artists in residence Kaas Ghanie, Laura Horrocks-Denis, Violeta Izquierdo, Amanda Kopas, Juliana Naccarato, Eunseon Park, and Nicolas Soni. On view from September 1 – 17 with a reception on August 31 at 6pm, the exhibition presents new work from these emerging craftspeople in ceramics, jewellery, metal, textiles and book arts.
Our Professional Development Residency Program offers emerging artists the studio space and support to develop their artistic practice outside of the academic environment. Participants are encouraged to experiment with new methods of working and explore new subject matter. The Nova Scotia Centre for Craft & Design is committed to providing support to emerging artists as they transition from students to professionals – strengthening the arts and culture community of the province and country at large.

July 14 – Aug 27, 2017
These one-of-a-kind porcelain vessels reveal the poignancy of daily rituals, such as drinking a cup of tea.
Showcasing the decorative traditions of world renowned porcelain centre Jindezhen, China, these pieces offer a personal interpretation of traditional materials for a Western context and usage.
“The purpose of my work is to empower the user, the activity, and the environment in the appreciation of everyday life” – Gina Etra Stick
