ArtScape Artists Celebrate Canada 150 from June 30 to July 3
This July 1st weekend the ArtScape Artists have created a special exhibit to commemorate Canada’s 150th Birthday. Each artist has produced a painting on canvas that represents a province or territory from coast to coast to coast. These pieces highlight the incredible beauty of our vast country and will be the focal point of the ArtScape Art Show and Sale. The artists will be donating 100 percent of the proceeds from the sales of these Canada 150 paintings to the St. Margaret’s Bay Food Bank.
The public is invited to the Opening Reception from 7 to 9 pm on Friday, June 30 at St. Luke’s United Church, 5374 St. Margaret’s Bay Rd. (Hwy 3) to meet the artists and view their latest works. The show will continue throughout the Canada Day Weekend: 9 am to 5 pm from Saturday to Monday.
Joan Curren, Olga Fredericks, Beverly Hubley, Helen Hyndman, Barbara King, Ruth Ann Moger and Rita Armbruster Onuferko are the earliest members of this talented group, some painting together for over two decades. In recent years Sarah Archibald, Suzanne Day, Nelson Hubley, Beth Matthews, Susan Sadoway and Barb Scott have been welcomed into the group which meets weekly at St. Luke’s hall on Monday mornings to paint and share art critiques.
This group of 13 local artists paint in a variety of styles from bold abstracts to lovely Maritime landscapes in acrylic, watercolour and mixed media. Admission is free.
