Elizabeth Bishop is being celebrated through a new exhibit and art gallery in Great Village, Nova Scotia. The official opening will take place at St. James Church, following the AGM on June 17, and everyone is welcome.
“We also have the Echoes of Elizabeth Bishop art gallery. We issued invitations to artists to produce work for the gallery and they’ve done paintings, sketches, wood carving and rug hooking.”
The society’s AGM will be held in the church on Saturday, June 17, at 1 p.m. Sharpe said it will last about half an hour and be followed by guest speaker Alexander MacLeod, who will read from his new work. MacLeod’s first collection of short stories ‘Light Lifting’ won an Atlantic Book Award and was a finalist for several other awards.
