|Water – Life’s Necessity is this year’s theme for the Dartmouth Visual Arts Society Show and Sale. DVAS (Dartmouth Visual Art Society) is an arts organization formed in 1987 by local artists to support and promote visual arts in the community and yet has been energized by the artistic diversity in the larger community as well. Membership continues to grow at a steady pace. The ideas and creativity that each new member brings are most welcome.
We welcome the DVAS to The Craig Gallery in its commerative 30th year! One of our Community favourites, be sure to stop in to view purchase and choose your favourite for their People’s Choice Award!
The NOVA SCOTIA BASKETRY GUILD (NSBG) was formed in 1988 in response to a growing interest in the craft of basketry in the province. They hold workshops on Tuesday mornings with occasional weekend workshops in summer with invited instructors.
The exhibit in The Craig Market Gallery this June will feature Basketry of all kinds made particularly by the Guild’s Tuesday group. They work with Willow, Witherod, Red Osier Dogwood, Maple, Ash, Poplar, fresh and saltwater marsh reed, paper, cardboard, telephone wire and a variety of other flexible materials used to weave baskets, hats, bags, bird feeders, chair seats, garden support structures, living willow fences and other assorted items.
We are so thrilled to have two of our community’s most long standing local Arts groups here together! I hope you come help us welcome these talented people to The Craig, and welcome the warmer weather of June! See you on the 7th at 7!
