Greg Yorke & Doris Soley
This show is dedicated to the memory of Wayne Yorke and Claude Soley for their support and inspiration.
It reflects the many “preparatory steps” taken in the last year and a half in trying to capture the province’s landscape from unique perspectives. In these small watercolors, I continue to attempt to master the medium while refining techniques.~ Doris Soley
Doris was born in Moose River, Nova Scotia, lived in Halifax and moved to Five Islands in 1991.
She took up oil painting during the seventies and studied with Gertrude Gass, Carolyn Poel, David Whitzman, Gerald Tibitts and recently with William Rogers.
In 2000, she created street art in the form of metal sculptures welded by her husband Claude. These are still showcased on Main Street in Parrsboro.
Her creative energies are now centered back to painting, hoping to capture the excitement of movement, colour and light in nature.
Doris’s ultimate wish is to bring a smile to a friend’s face.
