Lunenburg Doc Fest FREE screening – Apr 19

FREE Screening of “Angry Inuk”

Lunenburg Doc Fest is excited to host a free screening in celebration of National Canadian Film Day –the world’s largest one-day film festival! We invite you to join us for a screening of the multi-award-winning documentary Angry Inuk.

Inuk filmmaker Alethea Arnaquq-Baril invested eight years of her life to tell the Angry Inuk story, which takes a close look at the central role of seal hunting in the lives of the Inuit, the importance of the revenue they earn from sales of seal skins, and the negative impact that international campaigns against the seal hunt have had on their lives.

Now, a new generation of Inuit, armed with social media and their own sense of humour and justice, are challenging anti-sealers and bringing their own voices into the conversation. Arnaquq-Baril fiercely and undeniably challenges outdated perceptions and presents the Inuit as a modern people in dire need of a sustainable economy.
