Open Grants to Galleries, Groups, and Collectives – Accepting applications between March 24 and April 15

Open Grants to Galleries and Groups

Application available online March 24. Deadline is 5pm on April 15.

On the occasion of our 40th Anniversary, Visual Arts Nova Scotia is soliciting proposals from groups, galleries and/or collectives to create new programming or enhance existing programming in their community. The intention of this Open Call to Galleries and Groups program is to encourage exhibition/art engagement activities across the province. For this special anniversary, we have expanded the previous Open Grants program so please read the description carefully.

Any gallery, group or collective is eligible to apply for up to $750 to assist with costs related to an activity. Galleries and/or groups must fill out a short application form (which will be available March 24) and project budget to receive funds. All applications will be reviewed by the VANS Programming Committee and notified within 2 weeks.

VANS does not prescribe how funds must be spent; however, priority will be given to projects that have direct engagement with their community (including artist talks, hands-on workshops, educational programming and public interventions). Activities can include, but are certainly not limited to, a pop-up residency, occupying a vacant storefront as exhibition space, or activating non-traditional spaces into art spaces.
