“Ruth Marsh’s studio practice adopts a multidisciplinary approach ranging across media. Drawing forms the back-bone of this creative output by acting as a tactile lab for the unburdened, intuitive connection of concepts and images. However, this work is as much an exploration of ideas as it is an expression of the love of connecting pencil to paper; each drawing is obsessively and lovingly rendered and may take more than a hundred hours to produce. This latest presentation of the work is the result of five years of a slow but constant tandem practice.

“Corpus Melliferous” translates roughly into “honey bearing bodies”. This is an ongoing series of large-scale, mixed media drawings on paper. These works explore fluid, surrealistic, anatomical shifts: flowing hair paired with weeping viscera, Frankenstein hybrids, tumours with teeth, dry bones, queen bees, pulsing organs and thrumming swarms.”
