Thursday, January 26 at 4:15 in the Patterson room at the Tatamagouche Library, Pamela Swainson will give an Artist Talk on her recent seven-week stay in Iceland. The month of November was spent in the Gilfelag Artist Residency in Akureyri where she worked on her project “Familiar Strangers”. This project explored issues- both past and present-related to the massive exodus of people from Iceland around the turn of the end of the 19th century. Her large scale drawing, “The Price of Hope”, completed while there, will be on display.
Her presentation will also include a limited number of slides of places she was able to visit. Work from some of the artists she met will be discussed.
She would like to thank Arts Nova Scotia for support in making this project possible.
Doors open 4:00. Starts 4:15 — Coffee and cake will be served!
