Four opportunities for your consideration

Send us your Studio Selfies

To launch the 40th anniversary of Visual Arts Nova Scotia in 2017, we want to recognize the hard work and dedication of the artists living and working in this province. To any visual artists living in NS, NSCAD students and faculty, and VANS members (current/past/future) please send us a selfie of you working in your studio (as you define it). The images will be used to create a short, promotional video to highlight your strength, resiliency and passion. The deadline has been extended so email your studio selfies to by December 2.

Participation will automatically enter you into our draw for prizes!
First prize: 2017 VANS Membership + a workshop of your choice (Value of $85);
Second prize: 2017 VANS Workshop (Value of $55);
Third prize: 2017 VANS Membership (Value of $40).

Seeking new PAINTS artists

The Professional Artists in the Schools (PAINTS) program brings together professional visual and fine crafts artists, educators and students. It provides support for schools throughout Nova Scotia to bring professional artists into their classrooms to work directly with students. Our roster includes artists from all over the province working in different media in and in different ways. We’re always looking for more artists who interested in spending some time working with children and youth. All artists who are members of VANS or NSDCC are eligible. There is no fee to apply or participate. Artists are paid a rate of $40/hour (rate will increase to $50/hour in 2017). We also support some materials, and the artist’s mileage expenses.

Submit your successes to Members’ News

Members’ News is our quarterly e-newsletter relaying brief updates on our members’ current practices and professional successes. Have you had an exhibition, residency, or recently won an award? Let us know! To participate artists must be current VANS members. News items must be no more than 100 words and written in third person. Upcoming Deadline: December 7. Corridor Gallery is accepting applications

The Corridor Gallery (located inside the Visual Arts Nova Scotia office) is now taking submissions for the upcoming 2017 year! We are looking for artists to exhibit in Fall 2017 and we encourage artists from across the province working in all media to apply. Artwork will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis and applicants must be members of VANS. The Corridor Gallery is located at 1113 Marginal Road in Halifax and is open Monday through Friday, 9:30am – 5pm. For more information or to apply please see our guidelines for proposals. Deadline is ongoing.
