Since 1935, the Sackville Art Association (SAA) has operated continuously as a non-profit group, where artists of various media gather to share their ideas, work, and aspirations in an atmosphere of mutual respect.  Over the years, the SAA has counted some extraordinary artists among the membership, including Lawren P. Harris (who was on the executive for 22 years), Alex Colville, and Tom Forrestall, to name only a few.

The current activities of the association include weekly painting classes, workshops and an annual members’ art exhibition at the Owens Art Gallery in Sackville.  The Association also encourages education in art through the provision of funding for art supplies to schools in the Westmorland & Cumberland counties of N.B. & N.S. and through the awarding of two bursaries each year to graduates of high schools in Sackville and Amherst.  The SAA is open to artists of all experiences and levels, and welcomes new members with open arms.
